A longer tire life cycle simply reduces the management and maintenance costs. Up to 70% of the tires end their lives because of rock damage when running off-the-road. In some hazardous environments like mining on high silicate containing grounds, 100% of the tires may get removed because of rock damage.

Enveloping characteristic of a tire depends on its flexibility. A flexible tire can roll over hard objects by exerting less force on its elements. The below solutions make industrial / OTR tires more flexible and resistant to rock damages.

Twixtra

Twixtra is the hybrid cord design service for you to replace your standard material with aramid (Kevlar or Twaron). Aramid is a high strength and modulus advanced material which can take place of steel. By combining Aramid with a Nylon6.6 yarn the tire can be made smartly flexible i.e. as the tire presses on the ground cord material becomes elastic like Nylon6.6 near the ground while it behaves as stiff as aramid when stretched under the load.

Kordsa HarTech PET

PET is a higher modulus stiff material compared to Nylon6.6. This makes it a better choice for belt /breaker applications than Nylon6.6. However compared to Steel both materials are highly flexible which helps building flexible tires compared to All-steel. Yet, an important problem of PET is its adhesion drop under heat exposure that can prevent its usage when the curing cycle is long therefore Kordsa’s High adhesion retention Technology (HarTech) should be used in combination with PET material.

Monolyx

Monolyx is a twisted monofilament cord. Monolyx, due to its low twist and high bending stiffness is a better breaker / belt reinforcement than the standard multifilament cords. Heavier or lighter constructions are available. Monolyx is an extremely durable cord and should last much longer in harsh conditions like in off-road. When used instead of All-Steel the tire becomes more flexible.

ZERO GROWTH TIRES

Tire growth is a serious problem of big tires reinforced with synthetic fibers. This is caused because of the creeping property of polymers. When tires grow the rubber compound around it gets stressed and can be cut, damaged or worn more easily.

 

 

High Modulus Nylon 6.6

Modulus, in simple terms, in tire universe, is a measure of the resistance against elongation under a load. For big tires, Kordsa has a holistic approach to provide high modulus in the final cured tire not only in the fabric. Because with increasing tire size a significant portion of modulus can be lost during the tire production process. We support our customers eliminate tire growth in their big tires.
