Global and Site Purchasing Teams, Site Technical Departments, Site Production Teams, and Quality Assurance (QA) Teams are responsible for implementing the Global Supplier Evaluation Procedure, which defines the principles of Global Supplier Evaluation. The Global Quality Assurance (GQA) Department is responsible for coordinating the Global Supplier Evaluations.

The Global Sourcing (GS) Team defines the suppliers and evaluator sites every three months. Evaluations are performed during the time declared by GQA. The GQA Department starts the evaluation process by sharing the supplier list with the relevant departments where the evaluations will be conducted and asking them to complete the relevant evaluation over the global supplier evaluation list. When the evaluations are complete, the GQA department consolidates the recorded results. It informs the GS and Site Quality Assurance Departments, the COO, and the ELT at the site.

Evaluations are monitored based on a defined scale. Suppliers who score between 60- 70 are asked for corrective actions followed up by GS and GQA.

GS informs a supplier if its score is lower than 60 points. If there’s an alternative, the supplier is put on hold by GS. However, if there is no alternative supplier, GS will demand corrective actions from the supplier. GS and GQA follow up on the results of the actions. Suppliers receiving a report detailing the improvement needed should take counteractions in line with the evaluation. The counteractions and improvements should be shared with GS and GQA to make further supply available under follow-up and controlled conditions. This procedure is reviewed by GS at least once every two years.

Our Global and Site Purchasing Teams conduct new supplier on-site assessments, including the following criteria: Leadership and Quality Commitment, Process and Product Design Quality, Supplier Quality Management, Production Quality Management, Customer Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, People / HR, and Safety and Environment. Our occupational safety evaluation includes the availability of OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety management system certification, and the environmental evaluation comprises the availability of an ISO 14001 environmental management system certification.

In 2019, Kordsa started implementing a more comprehensive sustainability impact assessment in addition to the ongoing processes. We began to directly integrate the sustainability scores of suppliers into our current assessment system.

With the survey, we evaluate the performances of our suppliers on the topics of Reporting, Ethics Policies and Practices, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, Supplier Screening, Labor, and Environmental Management.

We plan to work on improvements with each supplier starting with the global suppliers and aim to increase the number of suppliers we reach.
